Bryntesson Takes Charge in Arvika

JC Raceteknik’s Thomas Bryntesson has taken early control of the second RallyX Nordic round in Arvika following two qualifying races with resounding wins in Q1 and Q2.

The defending champion swept to a comfortable victory in Q1 before defeating a tough line-up in the final race of Q2 to maintain a perfect scoring record with just one more qualifying race to come.

Despite losing out to Bryntesson on track in Q2, a pair of second place results on the timesheets in both races means Peter Hedstrom remains very much in touch in the fight for Intermediate Classification honours.

Oliver Solberg sits third in the classification after surviving two bruising races. The Norwegian was involved in contact between himself Ole Kristian Temte and Oliver Eriksson in a three-abreast leap over the jump before recovering to win when his rivals spun ahead of him. He’d go on to finish third in race three at the wheel of his OSRX Citroen DS3.

Eklund Motorsport’s Philip Gehrman sits fourth in the classification, ahead of Eriksson. The latter spun a few corners after his dust-up with Solberg on the first lap of his race in Q1, leaving him down in tenth, but ascended the order with the third best time in Q2.

Elsewhere, Holjes podium winners Mats Ohman and Lukas Walfridson endured problems in Q2. Ohman failed to start altogether in his Ford Fiesta, while Walfridson’s Helmia Renault Clio stopped in the final race with issues.
