Evjen targets home soil success in Norway

Sondre Evjen has set his sights on clawing back ground in the RallyX Nordic Supercar Lites class with a timely victory on home soil in Grenland.

The Norwegian sits sixth in the standings following the opening two rounds of the season, 30 points adrift of championship leader Guillaume De Ridder.

However, the 20-year old is confident of a return to form in Grenland this weekend, a circuit he says he enjoys competing on.

“I have been here the two previous years and I was second here last year, so I really enjoy this track,” the JC Raceteknik driver said.

“It is always good to win on a home track and for me in the championship I need a good weekend because I was hit quite hard in Arvika.

“I really want to do well here and take points back from De Ridder because he is quite far away now.”

Reflecting on the high standard of competition in Supercar Lites, Evjen – who competes in RX2 alongside his RallyX Nordic commitments – says he is also benefitting from racing on ‘proper rallycross tracks’ such as Grenland.

“The level in Nordic has been really high, so it is really good practice. I like the tracks in Nordic a lot more because in Scandinavia the tracks have more gravel… they are proper rallycross tracks! It is really good practice. Driving in this series is very important to me.”
