RallyX Nordic Title Battle Heats Up As Solberg Takes Lead

Oliver Solberg heads into the RallyX Nordic mid-season break as the new driver to beat after ascending to the top of the overall leaderboard in Grenland.

A ‘clean sweep’ in Norway saw Solberg clinch his second RallyX Nordic victory of the season with a maximum points’ haul, a success that lifts him past erstwhile leader Thomas Bryntesson and into the series lead for the first time.

Following on from his win in Arvika, the OSRX Citroen DS3 driver was thrilled to produce a career-best performance in front of his fans.

“To win all of my races in such a dominant way is amazing! It certainly wasn’t easy, I was working really hard to ensure I had clean races but I drove at my best throughout. It’s especially exciting to win like this in Norway.

“There are a lot of fans and Norwegian people here, so it is fantastic to have such a perfect weekend in front of everyone.”

With three rounds down and three more to come – Nysum in Denmark, Kouvola in Finland and Tierp in Sweden – Solberg is keen to maintain the momentum when the season resumes on August 11-12.

“[The win] is great for the championship and I am thrilled to be leading the standings now. You can be certain we will come back from the summer break fighting and ready to push for the title!”

Despite missing out on the final in Grenland after his JC Raceteknik Ford Fiesta sustained damage during his semi-final, Bryntesson remains very much in contention only four points behind Solberg.

Similarly, a first podium of the season for Oliver Eriksson keeps the Olsbergs MSE driver in the hunt. The Swede – who currently leads the RX2 International Series – is 15 points adrift of Solberg, four points ahead of Peter Hedstrom.
