Hedstrom Out To Turn Pace Into Prizes in Updated Polo

Peter Hedstrom says he is targeting victories in the second-half of the 2018 RallyX Nordic season at the wheel of an updated Volkswagen Polo following a quick but luckless start to the year.

The Swedish driver has emerged as one of the leading performers in RallyX Nordic this season in terms of raw pace, matching the likes of Oliver Solberg and Thomas Bryntesson during the opening three rounds.

However, while he successfully reached the final in Holjes, Arvika and Grenland, Hedstrom failed to finish any of them.

With technical issues eliminating him on lap two in Holjes having battled for the lead initially with Bryntesson, incidents on the first lap in Arvika and Grenland has prevented him from collecting any silverware.

Currently fourth in the standings – 19 points adrift of leader Solberg – Hedstrom says he is nonetheless pleased with his performances this season.

“We’ve shown good pace in each event so far,” he commented. “The highlights are that we have been smooth and safe in the qualification heats and enjoyed good semi-finals. However, though I have reached each final, things have not gone so well there.”

Ahead of round four in Nysum, Hedstrom reveals he will be going all out for victory in a new VW Polo.

“We have been working on a new car and during testing we have found many improvements. Nysum will be the first chance for me to race that car and I am driving for victory.”
