Finnish favourites join huge RallyX Nordic Kouvola entry

The penultimate round of the 2018 RallyX Nordic presented by Cooper Tires series to be held in Kouvola, Finland will see an influx of local talent swell the ranks with an additional 23 drivers featuring on a huge Supercar entry list.

Held as part of the Rallycross Festival Kouvola, RallyX Nordic’s maiden visit to the iconic Finnish venue has encouraged many of the national series’ contenders to go up against the likes of Oliver Solberg, Thomas Bryntesson and Oliver Eriksson.

With the many Finnish wild-cards hoping the benefit of track knowledge will give them an advantage over their incoming rivals, the additional 23 drivers bring the mammoth entry list in Kouvola up to 32 Supercars.

Heading up the local charge is Riku Tahko in his MIN Cooper Countryman, current leader of the Finnish Rallycross Championship, who will be joined on the RallyX Nordic stage by his closest rivals Ari Perkiomaki (Ford Fiesta) and Mikko Ikonen (Saab 9-3). The trio are split by just four points ahead of the final round for their season this weekend.

Last year’s Finnish Rallycross Champion Atro Maatta will also be present on the starting grid in Kouvola at the wheel of his Ford Fiesta, while 2016 title winner and current Euro RX contender Jere Kalliokoski will return to his native land to target victory in a Skoda Fabia.

Elsewhere, the event will also see the anticipated return of Aki Karttunen in a Volvo S40. A former front-runner in Finland, Karttunen is making his first appearance since the end of the 2016 season.
