Jonsson eyeing finals for RallyX on Ice return

Martin Jonsson says it is his target to make at least one final in this year’s RallyX on Ice presented by Cooper Tires as he looks to make a step forward in his second season of RallyX competition.

The Swede will hit the snow in his Alfta Racing-prepared Supercar Lites machine for this year’s new-look festival, which comprises three rounds using three different layouts, which is contested across six days in Are, Sweden on March 18 – 20 – 23.

Following a series of eye-catching performances last year, Jonsson says he is now confident of aiming higher and has set himself the breakthrough target of a final berth in one of the three events taking place.

“I’m super excited to get back behind the wheel of my Supercar Lites racing again. It has been a long time since Tierp!

“RallyX on Ice is particularly special to me as I was pretty much born racing on ice from my home town of Alfta in Sweden, where it is snowy and has frozen lakes for much of the year. My first time in a race car were actually driving on a frozen lake, so I feel very confident driving on the surface.

“In 2018,  it was a new challenge to participate in Supercar Lites after we bought the car #18 from OMSE after the last race in RallyX on Ice (ex-Team Penske). The first year was all about getting experience to develop the car and ourselves ahead of a push in 2019.

“We have been practice a lot over the winter so I feel like we can aim high for RallyX on Ice. We want to make it in the finals at least once, which would mean a lot for me and my team after all the hard work we have put in over the last 12 months.”
