Larsson quickest as racing gets underway at Nysum

JC Raceteknik’s Robin Larsson went fastest in the opening Q1 races that were held on Saturday afternoon at the Nysumbanen track. Oliver Eriksson of Olsbergs MSE was in hot pursuit of the Audi S1’s time as the Swedish pair won their respective heats. Philip Gehrman fought back from a crash in practice to place an impressive third on the timesheets.

Home favourite, Ulrik Linnemann recovered from an underwhelming start to set the fourth quickest time and finish third in his heat. Jere Kalliokoski and Mats Öhmann were fifth and sixth quickest respectively with Dennis Rømer, a distant seventh. Andreas Carlsson finished a lap down in his heat after his Renault Clio RS slowed whilst Peter Hedström recorded a DNF thanks to contact with Rømer and a subsequent puncture.

In Supercar Lites, Ben Philip Gundersen was nearly two seconds quicker than Sondre Evjen, his nearest rival. Simon Olofsson made up the top three while championship leader, Thomas Holmen set the fifth fastest time. RX Academy saw Rasmus Tuominen leading the way followed by Tommi Hallman and points leader Marko Muru. The CrossCar battle was as tight as expected with Isac Egonsson, Søren Jelsbak and Julius Ljungdahl separated by less than half a second.

The action restarts with the remaining qualifying sessions on Sunday morning at Nysum, live Facebook coverage of the semi-finals and finals gets underway from 3pm local time culminating with the main event, the Supercar final at the end of the day.
