Title bid on the horizon for Tuominen after ‘incredible’ Nysum weekend

Rasmus Tuominen hit the ground running in his rookie season of rallycross, he was immediately on the pace at rounds one and two in Holjes, scoring a podium on the Sunday of the Swedish double-header event. Rasmus went on to win in dominant style at only his third rallycross attempt (Denmark) topping the timesheets in all but one session at the Nysumbanen track.

“I feel like we have been getting better and better at every round so far this season. We made it to the final in round one, then got a podium on the Sunday in Höljes which was great. Denmark was an incredible weekend for me, I was quickest in every session apart from FP2 and took the win in the final which was an amazing feeling.”

The Finnish driver is now targetting an RX Academy championship challenge after his strong showing at round three saw him climb to third in the championship standings just three points behind Marko Muru at the top of the table.

“The results in round three put me in a great position to challenge for the championship, it is very tight at the top between Tommi, Marko and myself. The aim for the rest of the season is to be consistent and take any opportunities that come our way.

“As this is my first year as a rallycross driver, all the circuits are new to me. Latvia will be a good challenge, I have raced at the bigger circuit last year with a V1600 Volkswagen Lupo but not at the rallycross track so I am looking forward to the race.”
