Unstoppable Larsson wins in Riga

The 2019 RallyX Nordic presented by Cooper Tires championship returned for Round 4 in Riga, Latvia for another exciting instalment of the series. The tight and technical characteristics of the Biķernieki circuit were a highlight throughout the weekend and made the racing closer than ever. Championship contenders faulted during the qualifying rounds but it all came together for Robin Larsson who had impressive pace throughout the weekend, the Swede was determined to finally take his first win of the 2019 championship and stormed ahead to win the final, a duelling Jere Kalliokoski and Olsergs MSE’s Oliver Eriksson completed the podium.

Ben-Philip Gundersen was the man on form in Supercar Lites and looked unbeatable, local man Vasiliy Gryasin kept him honest in the qualifying heats and looked set to take the fight to the Norweigan in the final. The Latvian was unable to challenge Gundersen in the final, that job fell to Linus Östlund who finished 1.7 seconds behind Ben-Philip with Gryazin a crowd-pleasing third.

There was more good news for the Latvian fans in RX Academy, this time in the form of Roberts Vitols who chased a dominant Rasmus Tuominen to the flag, Luka Nurmi made up the final podium spot in a distant third place.

Ronalds Baldins – yet another Latvian driver – wore the biggest smile in CrossCars taking a fantastic win on his first RallyX Nordic attempt, Baldins was followed home by championship leader Nils Anderssen and Timmy Enlund.
