Jonsson ‘excited to get going’ on Nordic return

Martin Jonsson returns to RallyX Nordic for Round 7 of the championship with high hopes after a strong showing at Rounds 1 and 2 earlier in the season. Racing primarily in Sweden this year with the Alfta Racing Team, Jonsson opted to miss the middle part of the season and focus on the events in Höljes and Tierp.

Jonsson has reason to be quietly confident after semi-final appearances on each day of competition at Höljes, he was unable to convert them into places in the finals. Despite disappointment in the semis, the Swede showed strong pace throughout the weekend which stands him in good stead before his Supercar Lites return next weekend.

“We are racing in our second year in the Supercar Lites class,” commented Jonsson. “The whole team and I are getting everything sorted for the car and new tracks and making some good progress. For me, it’s a big step up from the ‘lowest rallycross class’ here in Sweden to this new challenge. I feel more confident in the car after each and every race, so hopefully, we can manage to reach the top six soon enough.

“This year for our Alfta Racing Team is all about the races here in Sweden and the main goal was to reach the finals in at least one of three races. We also still keep working for a full year in RallyX Nordic next season.

“Next up is the final round of RallyX Nordic in Tierp. Last year we had good launches and some good lap times, unfortunately, the suspension broke and the car was horrible to drive. This year we are more prepared and super excited to get going!”

Jonsson will have some tough competition in Tierp (21/22 September) as the title fight hots up between Ben-Philip Gundersen and Linus Östlund.
