Carcontrol quartet ready for CrossCar combat at Höljes

Leading CrossCar/Crosskart outfit Carcontrol is approaching next month’s RallyX Nordic presented by Cooper Tires curtain-raiser at Höljes’ ‘All-Star’ Magic Weekend (2-5 July) with a rapid four-strong driver line-up – and clear designs on glory.

Former championship runner-up Isac Egonsson is targeting ‘third time lucky’ after finishing second in the overall standings in 2018 and fifth last year, while Robin Nord is preparing to step up to the series from national competition and will make his debut in a high-profile event that has attracted a capacity 40-strong entry in the popular CrossCar/Crosskart class.

The pair will be joined in the Carcontrol fold in Sweden next weekend by CrossCar Junior entrants Erik Andersson and Rasmus Persson, both of whom are excited to begin their learning curve in the discipline.

Isac Egonsson (CrossCar) said:
“I start my third year with Carcontrol in RallyX Nordic feeling hungrier than ever to claim the CrossCar title. My speed is there, and if I can find more consistency for the 2020 season, everything will be possible.”

Robin Nord (CrossCar) said:
“Entering Rally X Nordic in 2020 with these rapid CrossCars will be a new challenge for me as my experience comes from the national scene, but I’m really looking forward to learning this new class and putting up some top six finishes during the season.”

Erik Andersson (CrossCar Junior) said:
“I’m really excited to join Carcontrol and drive my first year in the new CrossCar Junior class. It’s hard to say where I will be when the season ends, being a new car and new series but I’ll try my very best to finish on the podium a few times.”

Rasmus Persson (CrossCar Junior) said:
“It’s a dream come true for me to enter the RallyX Nordic CrossCar Junior class with Carcontrol’s Speedcar. My knowledge so far is from the smaller crosskarts, but I’ll certainly be aiming to challenge the more experienced drivers in the category.”

Marko Jokinen, Carcontrol Team Owner, said:
“This will be an interesting and challenging year for us – entering and running four Speedcars in Rally X Nordic under the Carcontrol banner is no easy task – but as the official Speedcar importer in Sweden, we have support from the Speedcar factory and all the latest material available to put into the races.

“We have brand new 2020-spec cars for Isac and Robin. Isac is a proven winner; he was the driver to watch in 2019 with a bunch of fastest laps and his capability for fabulous and unexpected overtakes, but some technical issues affected his overall result. Robin will definitely be up there during the forthcoming season, too. His enthusiasm to listen and learn will make him comfortable in the car very quickly.

“Erik will run with Isac’s 2019 car in the Junior class, while Rasmus enters with a car that is a few years older but no less competitive. Erik has done an excellent job in the lower Crosskart categories, achieving better results every year and I’m really looking forward to seeing his speed in CrossCar Junior. Even though Rasmus has hardly driven a CrossCar Junior before, he showed impressive lap times when we tested at Höljes recently.

“Of course, everything will need to click in the right way. The big step for us in 2020 will be when Lars Andersson joins us as Technical Specialist. Lars has a proven record in suspension work with different teams in World RX, Titans RX and WRC, so I’m really looking forward to the new suspension set-ups and work he will do during the season.”

The joint brainchild of RallyX Nordic promoter RX Promotion and Höljes’ organising club Finnskoga MK, and supported by the Swedish arm of international broadcasting heavyweight NEP, the ‘All-Star’ Magic Weekend will follow a purely digital, pay-per-view livestreaming model to adhere to current COVID-19 restrictions.

The commitment is to bring more rallycross action, highlights and ‘insider’ content than ever before to fans all around the world, with a global English-language feed, a presenting team composed of Andrew Coley, Hal Ridge, Neil Cole and Molly Pettit and no geoblocking.

Prominent Swedish streaming platform StayLive will host the ‘All-Star’ Magic Weekend, with ‘Early Bird’ subscription deals available here until midnight on Thursday, 25 June for just 199 SEK (c. €19,99). After this date, the package price increases slightly to 249 SEK (c. €24,99). Subscribers will also gain complimentary access to all 2019 RallyX Nordic races as a bonus.

Part of the proceeds of this crowdfunding initiative will go towards supporting Höljes to ensure many more Magic Weekends are possible in the future. Should they wish, fans can make additional donations here.
