Former RallyX Nordic presented by Cooper Tires Champion Oliver Solberg will return to the series for next month’s ‘All-Star’ Magic Weekend at Höljes in Sweden (2-5 July), fresh off the back of his victory in Rally Sweden Lockdown a fortnight ago.

After clinching three consecutive crowns in RallyX Nordic’s Crosskart class, in 2018, Solberg – the son of two-time FIA World Rallycross Champion and 2003 FIA World Rally Champion Petter Solberg – proved that fast genes indisputably run in the family by securing the series’ coveted Supercar class trophy in a tense three-way finale at Tierp Arena, lifting the laurels in style with his third triumph of the six-round campaign.

Last year, the Swede switched to rallying and claimed a hat-trick of titles in the Baltic region in a Volkswagen Polo R5. He has maintained that momentum in 2020 by embarking upon his maiden WRC season, but in a week-and-a-half’s time, Solberg will climb back into the cockpit of his 600bhp Citroën DS3 to do battle for RallyX Nordic Supercar glory one more time.

“Everything is a little bit different this year, and we have to be really thankful for people putting together events like this,” acknowledged the 18-year-old. “For sure, this Magic Weekend will be different to the ones we saw before, but the main thing is that we are going to be racing and that is fantastic news.

“It will be strange to race without the fans, but I don’t think we’ll notice while we’re driving – there’s always enough to keep you focussed in the car – and you never know, this event is looking so big that it might even tempt my father out of retirement…”

The joint brainchild of RallyX Nordic promoter RX Promotion and Höljes’ organising club Finnskoga MK, and supported by the Swedish arm of international broadcasting heavyweight NEP, the ‘All-Star’ Magic Weekend will follow a purely digital, pay-per-view livestreaming model to adhere to current COVID-19 restrictions.

The commitment is to bring more rallycross action, highlights and ‘insider’ content than ever before to fans all around the world, with a global English-language feed, a presenting team composed of Andrew Coley, Hal Ridge, Neil Cole and Molly Pettit and no geoblocking.

Prominent Swedish streaming platform StayLive will host the ‘All-Star’ Magic Weekend, with ‘Early Bird’ subscription deals available here until midnight on Thursday, 25 June for just 199 SEK (c. €19,99). After this date, the package price increases slightly to 249 SEK (c. €24,99). Subscribers will also gain complimentary access to all 2019 RallyX Nordic races as a bonus.

Part of the proceeds of this crowdfunding initiative will go towards supporting Höljes to ensure many more Magic Weekends are possible in the future. Should they wish, fans can make additional donations here.
