Multiple World Champion Kristoffersson enters fray for Nysum, targets full season

  • Rallycross’ most successful current racer signs up for Danish duel
  • Swedish star hoping to contest full campaign in Supercar class
  • 32-year-old joins Nils Andersson and Gustav Bergström in KMS fold

Johan Kristoffersson has thrown his hat into the ring for RallyX Nordic presented by Cooper Tires glory in the 2021 curtain-raiser at Nysum next weekend (1-2 May) – as the multiple FIA World Rallycross Champion targets a full campaign in the series’ headlining Supercar category.

Kristoffersson participated in three of the five rounds last year, winning two of them – in the rain at Höljes and then in the dry on home turf at Arvika following a stirring duel with eventual champion Oliver Eriksson – en route to third place in the final standings. The 32-year-old Swede simultaneously added a third World Championship crown to his impressive career CV, and now he is aiming to write his name in the RallyX Nordic history books.

As he prepares to do battle under the Volkswagen Dealerteam BAUHAUS banner behind the wheel of the same Volkswagen Polo GTI RX that served him so well last season, Kristoffersson is excited to go racing.

“It will be fun to go to a track I have never driven before,” enthused Kristoffersson. “We know the car has a lot of potential after last year’s updates. It did well in the European Championship with Sondre [Evjen – who will be one of Kristoffersson’s Supercar rivals this year], so the objective is to take the starts and stay away from problems as much as possible. The field looks to be strong, so nothing is a given.

“I hope we can contest the full season – we have that as a goal in any case. We are waiting for the new electric era in rallycross, so this will be good driving training for that…”

Kristoffersson will be the third entry for the eponymously-named Kristoffersson Motorsport outfit in RallyX Nordic in 2021, alongside already confirmed Supercar Lites duo Nils Andersson and Gustav Bergström.

“This should be really fun!” said Team Boss, Tommy Kristoffersson. “Gustav is an absolute beginner in motorsport, Nils is ready for the next step and now we have added Johan with all his experience.

“We drove in RallyX Nordic last year and really enjoyed it. Even if we cannot make an investment at factory level, we are pumped to the max and go into the season with a great bunch of people here at KMS and a lot of ambition.”
