World RX event-winner Nitišs ready to test himself against CrossCar/Crosskart’s finest

  • Youngest World RX winner to make RallyX Nordic CrossCar/Crosskart bow
  • Double European Rallycross Champion joins ultra-competitive line-up
  • 25-year-old Latvian prepared for ‘tough’ double-header weekend in Denmark

Former FIA World Rallycross Championship event-winner and European Rallycross Champion Reinis Nitišs is preparing to take on the cream of the CrossCar/Crosskart class in the 2021 RallyX Nordic presented by Cooper Tires curtain-raiser this weekend (1-2 May).

After dominating the Baltic and FIA North European Zone (NEZ) series in the formative stages of his career, Nitišs lifted the Euro RX Super1600 laurels in 2013 before making his debut at the highest level in World RX the following year.

In the third round of the campaign in Norway, the Latvian made history as the youngest-ever winner in the World Championship at the age of just 18, going on to finish third in the overall standings that year and spearheading Olsbergs MSE’s acquisition of the Teams’ crown.

Further podium finishes followed in 2015, while Nitišs added the Euro RX Supercar title to his burgeoning CV in 2018. That same season, he placed fourth in a one-off RallyX Nordic outing in the Supercar Lites class at Tierp Arena, and now the 25-year-old is aiming to make similar waves in CrossCar/Crosskart against some of the fiercest competitors in Scandinavia when the forthcoming campaign gets underway this weekend with a Danish double-header at high-speed Nysum.

“RallyX Nordic is one of the toughest regional CrossCar series and I’m happy to start my racing season in Scandinavia,” Nitišs enthused. “We have been working on the development of the Kamikaz CrossCar, and the upcoming races will be a good test to see where we stand against the best regional drivers.”

All of the Nysum action will be broadcast live and free-to-air at tv.rallyx.se, with the racing set to get underway at 11:20 CET on Saturday, 1 May and 10:00 CET on Sunday, 2 May.
