Lukas Andersson returns to the scene of his most famous achievements

As Lukas Andersson heads into the penultimate round of the 2024 season at the top of the Supercar Lites overall standings, the young Swede will certainly have his sights set on the Nysum venue that helped establish him as the major surprise of the 2023 RallyX championship.

No one has forgotten Lukas Andersson’s performances in Denmark. In April 2023, when the 15-year-old Swede was only making his first appearance at this level of the sport, the JC Raceteknik driver surprised everyone by taking back-to-back wins in Nysum and scoring 53 of the 60 points on offer.

“When I think back to what I achieved at this track last season and how I’ve progressed since then, I have to admit that I’m pretty proud of myself,” smiles Lukas.

“I sometimes look back on those two races and every time I’m still a little bit impressed by the quality of my driving at this event.”

With a 15-point lead over Casper Jansson in the Supercar Lites standings and four wins from six races this year, Lukas Andersson couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop than Nysum to try and get closer to his first title in the category.

“I feel really good going into the weekend. Nysum is a track that I’ve always enjoyed and that suits my driving style perfectly, so I’m obviously delighted to be back here. Knowing that I’ll be able to race at Nysum at such a key moment in the season, when everything will be decided in this final week of competition between Denmark and Germany, is not something I’m unhappy about. Considering that I’m starting with a slight advantage over Casper in the overall standings, it bodes well for the rest of the season and I’m certainly going into the weekend with a lot of confidence.”

“I know what I have to do in the last four races: I have to stay as consistent as possible. I’m going to stay as focused as possible on my weekend. For the last two races I’ll have a team-mate in Viktor Kristensson. If he needs anything to help him progress, I’ll of course make myself available to him. This is the first time this year that the JC Raceteknik team has entered two Supercar Lites in the RallyX championship and it’s good to know that I will be able to compare my performances with a team-mate.”
