The former Junior driver, a CrossCar specialist, will use this penultimate weekend of the season to take his first steps in Supercar Lites in the colours of JC Raceteknik. It’s an experience that Viktor Kristensson hopes to put to good use with a view to the 2025 season, when he aims to increase his presence in the RallyX championship.
We haven’t seen the young Swede since the final round of the RallyX championship at Höljes in August 2023. Sixth overall last season, with four final qualifications and a best result of fourth place in Race 2 at Kouvola, Viktor Kristensson decided to use the final part of the championship to get down to business by competing in the Supercar Lites category.
“This year I’ve been concentrating on the Danish CrossCar Championship, where I was able to make my debut in the top ‘X-Treme’ category and get to grips with this more powerful engine than the one I was used to in the Junior Championship,” emphasises Viktor.
“The aim now is to make the most of the two weekends at Nysum and Estering to discover the environment of the Supercar Lites category. If everything goes according to plan, it’s an experience that could well encourage me to take part in this championship in 2025”.
For now, the JC Raceteknik driver is looking forward to his first laps in the category without any pressure.
“I know the Nysum circuit well, having raced there many times in CrossCar, but I’m not chasing a result this weekend. The aim is to find out where we stand in relation to the best drivers in the championship and at the same time gain as much experience as possible for the future. I’ll also have the chance to benefit from Lukas Andersson’s advice throughout the weekend, which will certainly help me to progress more quickly.”
One thing is for sure, Viktor has prepared perfectly for this first outing in the Supercar Lites category.
“I’ve already had two days of testing at Vasteras in Sweden, while I’ve also had the chance to gain some four-wheel drive experience by doing some rallies and test sessions at the wheel of our Ford Fiesta R5. This has allowed me to understand the basics of driving a four-wheel drive car, so I’m feeling pretty confident about this race in Nysum. Even though it’s a completely new category, it’s a great opportunity to get my bearings before the 2025 season. I’ve really missed the RallyX championship and I want to use this weekend to enjoy myself and work towards next season.”
