Simon Olofsson: “I’m not looking at the points”

Back in the spotlight after his double win in Denmark last weekend, Simon Olofsson will be challenging for a third consecutive title in the final two rounds of the 2024 RallyX Championship season.

The two-time defending champion needed just two rounds to make up ground in the Supercar Lites standings.

Simon Olofsson impressed at Nysum with two wins and also managed to score the maximum 30 points twice.

“I have always liked the Nysum circuit. The key to doing well on this track was really getting the set-up right. On other tracks you can often compensate with your driving, but at Nysum you have to be perfect at getting traction out of the corners on the tarmac sections and that’s what we tried to do. Last year we already had a very good set-up, but with the experience we have in this category we were able to fine-tune our copy even further. Our knowledge of the car was a big advantage on a track like Nysum.”

Now co-leader of the overall standings with Lukas Andersson, Simon Olofsson is looking forward to an intense weekend. In addition to the JC Raceteknik driver, Olofsson will also have to deal with the very strong Casper Jansson, who is only eight points behind the two men.

“I’ve never had the opportunity to drive at the Estering before, but I expect it to be an extremely fun weekend. It’s a track that requires you to be aggressive at the wheel, but it promises to be a lot of excitement,” stresses Simon.

As for the possibility of a third consecutive RallyX title, the STS RX driver knows that the road to a third trophy is full of obstacles.

“To be honest, I’m not looking at the championship points. I was a few points behind going into Nysum, but my goal was to fight for first place until the end. From now on anything is possible and I’m sure it will be a great battle. The fight for the championship promises to be close. For my part, I’m going to keep pushing until the end. There are still two races to go, but there will be plenty of action.”
