Appointed race director of the RallyX championship at the start of the 2024 season, the former World RX competitor has succeeded in taking rallycross into a whole new dimension.
The veteran Latvian driver has had the opportunity to drive all kinds of cars. From CrossCar to Supercar, his experience is so vast that it’s hard to doubt the man from Jēkabpils.
An opinion that the boss of the Pace Motorsport team, which enters LifeLive TN11 chassis in the RallyX championship, agrees with wholeheartedly.
‘I make no secret of the fact that the addition of Reinis Nitišs as race director has been a real step forward this year,’ says Jarmo Voisa.
‘RallyX is a fantastic championship and we’re really pleased with the way things are organised. Above all, I think the introduction of Reinis to this key position has been very well received by all the drivers and teams.”
‘We can communicate easily and freely with Nitišs. He always gives us the amount of information we need to understand the reasons why he has taken this or that decision. In Denmark, during the penultimate round of the championship, a driver from our team was penalised. Afterwards, Reinis sent me a message asking if I wanted to see the footage, but I told him I didn’t need to because I trust him completely. If he thinks a situation is wrong, I know he’ll make the same decision later if a driver were to do a similar move.”
‘There is a real balance in terms of penalties, and this tends to make the championship much fairer for all the drivers and teams. It’s really a great initiative on the part of the promoter and race management to have included Reinis Nitišs in this dynamic. By way of comparison, I have to admit that the 2023 season was much more mixed in terms of the decisions that were made, but this year everything has gone perfectly.’
All the more reason for Jarmo Voisa and Pace Motorsport to return to the RallyX championship in 2025.
‘That’s why we want to continue competing in this championship. We are always very well received in the RallyX series. As well as that, we’re obviously keeping an interested eye on what’s happening on the European CrossCar championship. We went to an FIA event this year to see how things worked, and I’m sure we’d have the potential to perform well. So that’s one of the things we’re going to keep looking at. However, our priority remains the RallyX championship. As long as that championship manages to maintain such high standards, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t continue to invest in RallyX.’
