Ninth overall in the Open 4WD category this year, Latvian driver Marcis Martinovs has confirmed his intention to return to the RallyX championship next season.
In his first full season at this level of competition at the wheel of the former Albatec Racing Peugeot 208, Marcis Martinovs secured his first qualification for a final during the first race of the weekend in Alvsbyn.
Of the 30 qualifying rounds held last season, the Latvian achieved eight top-eight and 16 top-ten finishes in the premier class.
These are interesting results for the rookie in the Open 4WD Championship and figures that Marcis will be keen to confirm next season.
Winner of the last round of the Latvian championship, held in Riga in September, the Peugeot 208 driver has confirmed his intention to compete in a second full season in 2025.
“I think I will continue in the Scandinavian Championship in 2025. This year has been a really good school for me. A very good school that I could not get here in the Baltic States. In RallyX there are many drivers who are much faster and more skilled, so I tried to get as close to them as possible. That was my main goal when I decided to join this series. I cannot win there, but I can learn. The rules, where you can compete in the Pro-Am and sometimes in the Pro, make it even more attractive. I really like this championship,” explains Marcis.
“This season has taught me a lot about what I can do with the car. If you compare my first race at the wheel of the Peugeot 208 in Bikernieki in May 2024 and my performance in this final round of the Baltic Championship, where I managed to win despite a false start that forced me to do the joker lap twice, it’s easy to see how much I’ve progressed,” admitted the Latvian driver.
