Lauritz Heum: One year to learn, another to perform!

Having moved up from the Norwegian CrossCar Championship, Lauritz Heum used the 2024 season to make his mark in the junior class while looking forward to the 2025 season, when he clearly hopes to turn a corner in his progress in the RallyX championship.

Lauritz Heum may only have finished 19th overall in the junior standings, but his performances towards the end of the season speak for themselves.

As proof, Heum finished his 2024 campaign a few days ago with a victory ahead of Theo Johansen and Olliver Sollie in the final round of the Norwegian championship in Grenland.

After qualifying for the semi-finals three times, including twice at Buxtehude during the final event of the RallyX season, the last few weeks have allowed Lauritz to show just how far he has come.

“This was my second season at the wheel of a Junior CrossCar, but the level of the drivers in the RallyX championship is much higher than what I was used to in the Norwegian championship. It’s a very big difference,’ Alexander Heum’s younger brother points out.

“This year I was more in a learning curve than anything else. I knew I wasn’t going to fight for the top places and that every race was an opportunity to gain a little more experience. I didn’t have any real goals or hopes when I signed up for RallyX.”

“It was just about training. The aim was to reach the semi-finals and gain experience for the 2025 season. The Casmat chassis was also new to me. I had to understand how to use it, but I think we made good progress towards the end of the championship.”

All of which should give Lauritz Heum some ideas for the 2025 season.

“If I continue in junior next year, the aim will be to get closer to the top in both the Norwegian and RallyX championships. I’m 15, so it will be my last campaign in this category.”

“I enjoyed my first season in RallyX. My brother has been helping me since I started CrossCar and I know I wouldn’t have got this far without him, while this championship has also allowed me to discover new things. For example, the Buxtehude event was simply the first time I had travelled so far from my home base in Norway, while I was able to discover a circuit that is very different from what I’m used to, and that’s a very good thing.”
