Third in the 2023 RallyX championship with three podiums to his name, Björn Stuhre waited until the summer and the last two events of the 2024 season, held on the Nysum and Buxtehude tracks, to return to business.
Busy with his professional activities and his son’s debut in CrossCar, Björn Stuhre was once again tempted by the RallyX championship last August.
With four final qualifications and a podium finish in Race 1 at Buxtehude, the driver from Lund has no regrets about his last-minute comeback.
‘It was Kevin Eriksson who convinced me to take part in the last two rounds of the championship, so I thought it would be the best way to test all the developments we’ve made to the car at the end of the 2023 season,’ points out Björn.
‘The Nysum and Buxtehude events were also the closest to our bases in Sweden, so it would have been a shame to miss them.’
Indeed, the Ford Fiesta driver was able to get his bearings in preparation for the 2025 season.
‘We’ve made a few changes to our suspension, so this end of the season has allowed us to test our equipment, because the aim is of course to come back in 2025. On the engine side, we’re sticking to the same basics as in 2023, but we were able to see at Nysum that our technical choices in terms of suspension have paid off handsomely.’
While his colleague Rasmus Berggren decided to stop his programme after the Älvsbyn event, following his first top-three finish at this level of racing, the two Swedes intend to join forces with a view to 2025.
‘Rasmus decided to end his season after the Älvsbyn stage to focus on 2025. But our plans haven’t changed. In fact, his father was with me in Nysum and Buxtehude to help me with the technical side of things. Both Rasmus and I have the same goal. We both want to be back in 2025, working as a team to reduce costs. Rasmus has a great infrastructure and we want to use our own tools to try and get some sponsors on board for next season.’
