After a two-year absence, the Bikernieki circuit has regained its place on the 2025 RallyX championship calendar. The news has been greeted with obvious enthusiasm in Latvia.
Jānis Bergs, the promoter of a Baltic championship that has been on the up in recent seasons, is delighted at the thought of being able to return to RallyX.
The Latvian capital will host the first stage of the ‘Nordic’ league on 9 and 10 May.
‘Since the RallyX championship last came to Riga in 2022, we’ve been in permanent contact with Andreas Eriksson,’ says Jānis Bergs on the Go4Speed.lv website.
‘Until now, we’ve never managed to find a solution in terms of the calendar, but I have to say that the RallyX Championship has always maintained its confidence in us and its willingness to work together with us.”
‘The most important thing for me is that the international drivers continue to speak very positively about the Riga venue, so it’s a mutual interest between our two organisations that we have managed to get Riga back on the RallyX Championship calendar.”
According to Jānis Bergs, the Riga event will be one of the biggest motorsport events to take place in Latvia in 2025.
‘RallyX wanted to come back here and we wanted to organise a major event in Latvia. In fact, I think it will certainly be a very big show”
‘The RallyX Nordic championship event will take place on the same weekend as the Baltic championship round, so it will be a real festival dedicated to Rallycross. I wouldn’t be surprised if we had more than 20 Supercars on the grid, along with a few local drivers’
