Like several other RallyX championship drivers, Elias Svensson had the opportunity to take the wheel of the new FC2 during a test session organised at the beginning of November at Strängnäs.
This year’s winner of the CrossCar Senior category thanks to four victories and a total of five podium finishes, Elias Svensson has finally achieved what he set out to do after two successive campaigns in which the Swede had already come extremely close to winning the championship.
And although Elias Svensson announced at the end of the 2024 season in Buxtehude that he was perhaps done with his CrossCar programme, the driver from Värmland has recently been able to get to grips with this FC2 powered by a turbo engine developing 550 bhp.
‘I’d already had the opportunity to try out this car at the start of the year in the United States, but the FC2 was still in the development phase. Now we feel that the product is really mature’, Elias points out.
‘One thing’s for sure, it’s a very good car. For my part, I hadn’t been back behind the wheel since the last race at Buxtehude, so it took me a little time to get back into the rhythm, but this test session was a very good experience with a car that is still very easy to drive.’
‘For me, the transition from the CrossCar to the FC2 was fairly straightforward. In terms of weight distribution, the FC2, with its gearbox and engine located on the rear axle, didn’t disturb me compared with my experience in CrossCar. What I’ll take away from the day is that the FC2 is a very easy car to handle.’
At the start of the year, Elias Svensson had already had the opportunity to compete in Nitrocross at the wheel of a Supercar Lites, but the Swede admits that the FC2 is a lot more in line with his desires.
‘I had already competed in Supercar Lites at the start of last year in Nitrocross, but the FC2 is much more suited to my natural skills. There’s more power and more speed, and you can feel that the suspension system is much more efficient than on a Supercar Lites. All in all, in terms of feel, it’s pretty close to what you’d get from a CrossCar or a classic Supercar.’
‘From my point of view, the FC2 class is perfect for CrossCar drivers who want to take their progression to the next level. Not only are the sensations similar, but more importantly FC2 can provide greater exposure in terms of media coverage.”
