With the 2024 season of the RallyX Championship having come to an end several weeks ago, Magnus Dall has proved that his ex-Stecka Walfridsson Renault Clio R.S. Supercar and its diabolical five-cylinder engine have lost none of their effectiveness. However, the Danish driver is already working on another project with a view to the 2025 season.
Although his rallycross season was limited to the two double-headers at Nysum and Buxtehude, Magnus Dall doesn’t regret a single second of having taken part in the last two rounds of the RallyX championship.
‘In 2022 and 2023 we also took part in the RallyX championship in Nysum, but those two weekends didn’t go exactly as we had imagined,’ says Magnus.
‘There was a lot of fighting on the track and we finished both events with a lot of damage and disappointment. With that experience behind me, I decided to approach 2024 with a completely different mindset, trying not to ask myself too many questions and to take things as they come. By following this philosophy, I quickly noticed that my performance improved. Everything is easier when you drive in a relaxed, stress-free way.’
‘This has allowed us to experience some fantastic moments this year. The RallyX Championship is really doing a fantastic job to get the sport back on track. It certainly fits in perfectly with my philosophy of what rallycross should be.’
Indeed it does… While the Renault Clio driver didn’t really know what to expect, his performances in the Pro-Am category speak for themselves, with three qualifications for a final, including a second place at Nysum and a fourth at Buxtehude.
‘From a sporting point of view, our 2024 season ended very well. In fact, I think it was by far our best season with the team, as we managed to qualify for the finals three times out of the four races we took part in, as well as finishing second and fourth. And to take the second step on the podium at our home ground in Nysum and against such strong competition was the best way for us to mark our return to the RallyX championship. Without a doubt, this race will remain the best memory of my rallycross career.’
‘Nysum was only my first race of the year with the Renault Clio R.S. Supercar. The main goal was to prepare properly for the Estering event, which I’ve contested many times in the German Rallycross Championship. The Estering is a bit like my second home track. One thing’s for sure, we never imagined that we’d finish on the podium in 2024. After two consecutive years in which we left RallyX with a strong feeling of disappointment, it was with a great sense of happiness that we were able to finish our 2024 season.’
Despite these top performances, it is at the wheel of a brand new supercar that Magnus Dall hopes to return to the RallyX championship in 2025.
‘The Clio is actually for sale. It has been completely rebuilt and is already ready for the 2025 RallyX season. So if a driver wants to buy a fast supercar, perfectly maintained and with a unique sound thanks to its five-cylinder engine, he’s welcome to talk to me about it,’ continues the Danish driver.
‘For our part, we’ve been able to put in some very good performances this year, as well as some good results, so the time has come for us to take another step forward in our development with a new car from Italy, which should arrive in our workshops around mid-December.’
‘The recent announcements made by the RallyX championship confirm that we are getting back to a sport as it should have always been, with great cars, top tracks and an incredible atmosphere. In my opinion, RallyX really is the future of rallycross. In any case, I hope that it will give a second life to all those extraordinary cars that are sitting in garages here and there and haven’t been used for a long time’
