A Season Full of Lessons for Olliver Tveitten Sollie

Defeated by Hampus Hagström in the CrossCar Junior category, Olliver Tveitten Sollie nevertheless reflects positively on his 2024 season.

With three victories and seven podium finishes to his name this year, it’s clear that Olliver came tantalizingly close to succeeding Mikael Uitto.

Indeed, if not for a challenging weekend in Älvsbyn, it’s highly likely that the young Norwegian could have pushed his Swedish rival Hampus Hagström to the limit.

“Even though there were ups and downs, I’d still say our season was a good one,” Olliver remarked.

“We started the championship strong with three wins in the first four races, but I couldn’t quite find the right pace behind the wheel during rounds five and six in Älvsbyn. We bounced back well in Denmark afterward, but issues with starts cost us valuable time.”

“Finally, our performances in Germany were solid. I quickly got into a good groove, which could have even earned me a win during the first race of the weekend. The following day, I managed to secure strong qualifying results again, but in the semi-final and final, I couldn’t recapture the same speed I had earlier in the day.”

While far from disappointed with his strong performances throughout the season, the Älvsbyn weekend—where he only managed fourth and fifth places—proved costly for Olliver. He doesn’t shy away from analyzing this slight dip in form.

“This year, we experimented a lot with setups. Some worked really well, while others didn’t quite hit the mark. That was particularly the case in Älvsbyn, where our configuration wasn’t ideal. As for the rest, I’m not entirely sure what went wrong. I think I just couldn’t put everything together. That said, I have absolutely no regrets about this season.. I’ve learned so much, whether it’s in terms of driving or video analysis.”

During the winter, Olliver had the chance to test a Supercar Lites vehicle, though the Norwegian remains undecided about his plans for the 2025 season.

“I was fortunate to try out the Supercar Lites, but I must admit it was mostly out of curiosity. It’s a very enjoyable car to drive, but like in CrossCar Junior, you can’t afford to slide, or you risk losing momentum. As for 2025, I’m still not sure what we’ll do at the moment.”

After delivering his best-ever performance in the RallyX championship in 2024, the prospect of securing his first championship title will likely be a compelling reason for Olliver to come back stronger next season.
