Finishing fourth in the 2024 Supercar Lites category in his first season at this level of competition, Tobias Daarbak has firmly established himself as the top rookie of last season. The Danish driver is now determined to build on this momentum over the coming months…
The seven-time Danish CrossCar champion has wasted no time in establishing himself as one of the rising stars of the Supercar Lites arena. With six podium finishes, Tobias was the second-best overall performer of the 2024 season, trailing only three-time reigning champion Simon Olofsson, who claimed seven top-three finishes.
The Danish driver also remains the only Supercar Lites driver to have qualified for ten finals. This level of consistency has allowed him to challenge the top contenders in the RallyX championship.
“The 2024 season has clearly exceeded all our expectations,” notes Tobias.
“The goal before the start of the championship was to qualify for at least one final per race and, in the best case scenario, to finish in the top 3 in the overall standings. To be honest, qualifying for every final and taking six podiums out of ten races feels incredible. One thing is for sure – these results are a huge source of motivation to keep improving.”
With just a few months to go until the start of the 2025 season, Tobias Daarbak is aware that he has not yet reached his full potential.
“After this first campaign in Supercar Lites and countless reviews of my onboard footage, I know that there is still significant room for improvement. However, I have learnt that in many situations it is wiser to drive at 99% and maintain a small margin of safety than to push to 110% and take unnecessary risks that could backfire. However, I still need to refine my driving style as these Supercar Lites are completely different to what I was used to before.”
Like his compatriot Kenneth Konge, who finished third in the Open 2WD category, Tobias Daarbak remains one of the leading figures of the Danish delegation in RallyX. He is well aware that he will be among the contenders for the 2025 season.
“To be considered as one of the drivers to watch next season is a great honour for me and my team. Of course, it adds extra pressure to deliver results, but I see it as a challenge after my rookie year in Supercar Lites.”
His younger brother Kevin has also shown his speed, securing four final qualifying positions in his first experience behind the wheel of a real race car.
“Competing in the same category as my brother has been an incredible experience,” continues Tobias.
“We have always been a close-knit family team, supported by our fantastic mechanics. But to get a double podium in Nysum was definitely a highlight that we can carry into next year. Being able to fight at the front and prove that I am one of the best is something I want to do again next season. I’ve had some fantastic battles that will remain unforgettable.”
Behind the scenes, the Daarbak Motorsport team has used the off-season to strengthen its presence in RallyX by acquiring a second Supercar Lites.
“Buying a new car is an important step for our small private team. It will allow us to prepare for 2025 under optimal conditions and to use both cars for even more testing before the championship. One thing is for sure – we will do everything we can to be better prepared than ever.”
