As one of the first drivers to confirm a full-time programme in the CrossCar category of the Euro League Championship, Kalle Gothesson is preparing for the 2025 season with a clear focus: to continue his https://www.rallyx.se/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/1-QBA_3116-1110×624-1-2.jpgelopment behind the wheel of his Speedcar Wonder.

Although the coming season will only be Kalle’s fourth year in the RallyX Championship, he is determined to prove that his 10th place finish at Nysum 1 last August was no fluke.

“The 2024 season has helped me to make further progress,” says Kalle.

“Last winter I joined the Huuhka Motorsport team and I have to admit that I had everything I needed to continue improving as a driver. Most importantly, joining Huuhka Motorsport allowed me to take a huge step forward, going from zero to seven semi-final qualifications in just one season. I also showed that I can be competitive with the fastest time in practice at Nysum, second best at Kouvola and fourth at Estering.”

Although his 21st place in the CrossCar standings doesn’t really reflect his potential, Kalle remains focused on the bigger picture.

“Obviously, I’m not happy to end the season so far down in the standings, but I have to remember that this was only my third real season in CrossCar and that I had very limited experience before committing myself to RallyX. Nevertheless, I’m making steady progress and my results are improving. In fact, I think my pure pace in the second half of the championship was quite good. This gives me a strong base for 2025.”

This upward trajectory has allowed Kalle to identify key areas for improvement, particularly his lack of consistency during qualifying rounds.

“I know my speed is good, but I need to make sure I put it all together and become much more consistent if I want better results. In 2024 I have rarely managed three solid qualifying heats in a row, which has often meant starting the semi-finals from the back of the grid. I think if I’d secured better grid positions it would have shown in my results.”

Despite these challenges, Kalle remains steadfast in his determination to reach new milestones in 2025.

“There are so many talented drivers in this championship that speed alone isn’t enough. You really need to put all the pieces of the puzzle together if you want to have a chance of beating the best in this category. For me, the key to avoiding frustration is to stay focused on the work I need to do to keep improving.”

“What’s most important to me is not to be the best driver today, but to be the best driver in the next ten years. I want to give myself the time to learn and master my craft. I’m still in the early stages of my motorsport journey, so I’ve got plenty of time to win races and https://www.rallyx.se/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/1-QBA_3116-1110×624-1-2.jpgelop. To be honest, I’m not focused on short-term results – I’m playing the long game.”

While the end of the 2024 season has shown Kalle’s promising potential, these results have primarily fuelled his ambitions for the year ahead.

“For me, the key will be to deliver solid qualifications. My goal for next season is to build on the momentum I found at the end of 2024, especially with the two podiums I secured in Sweden. I think I’ve shown at times that I belong among the fastest drivers. My aim for 2025 is to establish myself as a real podium contender in the RallyX series.”
