Currently sitting second in the Norwegian Cross Car Junior Championship standings, with two runner-up finishes behind Oliver Sollie, Sebastian Isaksætre is gearing up to return to RallyX competition this weekend at Finland’s Kymiring circuit, carrying some strong credentials.
After finishing 11th overall in 2024 during his first full campaign at this level, Sebastian Isaksætre demonstrated last month in Riga that he has stepped up to a whole new level.
While the young Norwegian driver has yet to secure his first RallyX podium, all indications suggest that he could well emerge as one of the breakout stars of the 2025 season.
Indeed, across the six qualifying heats he contested in Latvia, Isaksætre placed inside the Top 3 on five occasions and even clocked the fastest lap in one of the races.
It’s an impressive upward trajectory that the young talent will no doubt be eager to confirm in Finland over the coming days on the all-new Kymiring layout.

“I’m still a bit disappointed with my final in Riga’s second race because the podium was definitely within reach. Unfortunately, my car stalled and I had to restart it, but overall, I’d say my RallyX return went pretty well. Unlike last season when I still had a lot to learn, I now realize that I can fight for the top spots,” Sebastian noted.
“To be honest, I was surprised by my outright pace, starting with the fastest time I set during Sunday morning’s warm-up. Now I hope I can keep this momentum going in Finland. In any case, I fully intend to give it my all and fight for victory at Kymiring.”
A progression that hasn’t gone unnoticed by Espen Isaksætre. Indeed, the 2023 FIA Euro RX3 vice-champion is following his nephew’s development closely.
“We’re continuing to work hard with Sebastian,” Espen explained.
“He’s made huge progress since last season and each race weekend gives us another opportunity to build experience. I believe he’s already learned a great deal from the Riga event, and I’m convinced he’ll be capable of fighting at the front again in Finland at the next round of the championship. Of course, there’s still work to be done, but being able to measure up against the best drivers will help him take another step forward, and I have no doubt he’ll be competitive on the Kymiring circuit.”
Currently fourth in the RallyX North standings, Sebastian Isaksætre trails championship leader Carl Svedlund of JC Raceteknik by just 14 points.
