Vetle Try wants more

Fresh off his first career podium in the CrossCar category during Race 2 in Riga, Vetle Try has no intention of easing off the throttle anytime soon.

After making an early impression in the second round of the season at Valkenswaard—where he secured third place in the intermediate classification of Race 1—the Norwegian has only grown stronger. He followed up with a fourth-place finish in Riga 1, then clinched a victory in the intermediate standings the next day, ultimately converting that performance into a podium finish in a final won by Estonia’s Armin Raag.

One thing is clear: with seven Top 3 results in qualifying over the last 18 heats since Montalegre, Vetle Try is firmly establishing himself as one of the most consistent and promising drivers on the grid.

“We’re definitely in a good place right now,” Try acknowledged. “We’ve made a few more tweaks to the car since Riga, so we’ll see how things go here in Finland. But Riga was a really solid weekend for us—nothing to complain about.”

Riding the momentum, the young Norwegian is not shy about his ambitions.

“We never show up aiming for anything less than a win. That’s the main goal. We want to take the victory and we’re doing everything we can to make it happen.”

While the upcoming round at Kymiring will be a brand-new experience for the entire RallyX field, Try appears unfazed by the unknowns of the Finnish circuit.

“My driving style is pretty smooth on asphalt, and things go really well on gravel too. I think this track is really well designed, with elevation changes in every corner. It’s a very interesting layout, and I think I’m going to enjoy it a lot.”

Try’s bid for another strong result will also benefit from improved technical alignment within the JC Raceteknik team. Joonatan Ylilammi, already his teammate, started the season driving a Casmat chassis but has now made the switch to the same Speedcar Wonder as Try.

“Everyone knows Joonatan is incredibly talented. I hope he’ll finally be able to show his true potential. We’re teammates and we work together. Sometimes he’s quicker than me and doesn’t hesitate to offer advice. And when I’ve got the edge, I do the same for him.”
