In his first full season competing in RallyX’s CrossCar category, Jonatan Hoffman has had anything but an easy ride. Ranked just 21st in the North standings, the Swedish driver has had to contend with a string of setbacks and technical issues. Yet amid the frustrations, there’s also been growth—and the Hoffman Motorsport driver has shown resilience.
Proof of that came at KymiRing, where he delivered an eye-catching performance to claim an impressive eighth place. It’s the kind of form Hoffman now hopes to replicate during the season’s final two double-headers at Nysum and Estering as he looks to sign off on a positive note.
For now, though, he doesn’t shy away from admitting it’s been a challenging campaign.
“Even when I had the speed this season, I always had to deal with a mix of bad luck and, at times, driving mistakes. In the end, I never really managed to put together strong qualifying sessions. In Portugal, I had excellent pace, but the car let me down at the most crucial moment. Then at Valkenswaard and Riga, we ran into one problem after another. On tracks like KymiRing or Alvsbyn, which suited my driving style, I was still missing that little bit of luck to make the difference and get closer to my first final. ”
Still, Hoffman refuses to dwell on the negatives and prefers to focus on the positives.

“Even though the season has been tough, I try to take away the good things rather than give in to frustration. At Valkenswaard, I felt great, but I couldn’t turn that feeling into a result. At Riga, we quickly realized we didn’t have the equipment to be competitive off the line or even to find the top speed we needed. Even when the car seemed decent, it just wasn’t enough to fight at the front.”
Having pinpointed the root causes of his struggles, the Swede knows exactly where to focus.
“I’m constantly analyzing what works so I can replicate it, but I have to admit our biggest area for improvement is the starts. That’s clearly something we need to work on.”
While the standings don’t reflect his true potential, Hoffman is determined to build on the lessons of 2025 and come back stronger in 2026.
“This season has already given me plenty of ideas for the future. Since the start of the championship, I’ve learned a lot—especially about suspension and technical setup. But what stands out most is that consistency is everything. You need to maintain speed lap after lap; without that, you immediately lose positions. You can’t afford highs and lows, and that starts with solid launches off the line.”
With two rounds still to go, the goal is crystal clear: secure strong finishes and end the year on a high.
“To wrap up the season on a positive note, I’m aiming for at least a top 10 in the remaining races. After such a difficult start to the year, that would already feel like a big achievement.”
