Sitting at the top of the Supercar Lites standings, Julien Meunier heads into the Nysum round with a lead to defend—and a target on his back. A scenario that hardly seems to faze the double French Super1600 champion, determined to keep his cool in a championship where nothing is decided yet.
Now in his second season in Supercar Lites, the OMSE driver has put together an almost flawless campaign: three wins and seven podiums in nine starts. That consistency has earned him the championship lead heading into the home stretch. But the battle is far from over: six drivers are still mathematically in contention, and four rounds remain to settle the score.
“We’re entering the final stretch of an incredibly exciting championship,” says Meunier.
“It’s not the first time I’ve been in this position, so I know how to approach a weekend like this. The goal is to stay focused and keep doing what we know best: drive clean and smart. Rallycross is unpredictable—one mechanical failure or a small contact can turn everything upside down. We’ll need to be clever, score points, and manage without taking unnecessary risks.”
As the leader, Meunier knows his rivals will come after him—but he refuses to let that pressure dictate his approach.
“Yes, I know everyone will be gunning for me because I’m in front. They’ll all want to take points off me, but that’s also my goal: to take points off them. My mindset doesn’t change—keep doing the job, score as many points as possible, and make it through the semis and the final like I know I can. I don’t really feel like I have a target on my back, but I know the pressure is there for everyone.”

In a title fight this tight, every detail matters—and Meunier knows it better than anyone. That starts with free practice, which sets the tone for qualifying, an area that hasn’t always gone his way this year.
“Since Alvsbyn, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to maximize points from the qualifying heats. We’re often quick, but luck hasn’t always been on our side—especially in the timed practice sessions. Here, pole position can make all the difference, so we need to nail a big lap right from the start. After that, we’ll manage the weekend as it comes, but the key is to perform from the first session. Every point will matter, especially over these last four rounds.”
For Meunier, this year’s competition is among the toughest in recent memory. There’s simply no room to let up.
“This season, you can never ease off. You have to attack 100% all the time. The field is incredible—anyone can win. I think the front group we’ve seen all year will stay a notch ahead, but the chasing pack is closing in.”
While a championship crown is the goal, Meunier refuses to get bogged down by calculations or let the pressure consume him.
“The aim is to keep scoring points, race after race. We’re not going to overthink the math. Drive, stay focused, do the job—that’s what matters. And if I don’t make it? It won’t be the end of the world. Winning a title is the icing on the cake. If you win, you stand out, but I think every driver in Supercar Lites has already proven their quality.”
Before the gloves come off, Meunier is relishing the chance to race on one of his favorite tracks.
“Nysum is visually spectacular, but above all, it’s a real joy to drive. It has everything: long straights, heavy braking zones, technical sections. A bit of everything, which makes it a fantastic track. It’s not the most difficult, but it’s definitely one of the most enjoyable to race on. The car just flows here—it’s a pure pleasure.”
