After his stunning performance in early July at Höljes, where he shocked the paddock by finishing second in the FIA Euro RX1 series on his very first outing in the premier category, Lukas Andersson returns to business this weekend in Supercar Lites with one clear goal: to claim a title that has eluded him for the past two seasons.
The Swedish driver, who races under the JC Raceteknik banner, is gearing up for a high-stakes weekend. With six drivers still mathematically in contention for the crown, the fight promises to be fierce—and Andersson knows it better than anyone.
“The championship has never been tighter. I’m only four points behind the leader. That’s what makes this competition so exciting—it’s going to be intense right to the end. I’m ready for the fight. There will be some great battles for sure. Everyone is chasing victory, and I’ll give everything I’ve got to achieve it. I won’t hide it: my goal is to win this title.”

While he’s only taken one win so far this season, Andersson has been the model of consistency, racking up nine final appearances and five podium finishes. For the third consecutive year since stepping up to Supercar Lites, he finds himself in a prime position to challenge for the crown and end the reign of three-time champion Simon Olofsson.
Still, the equation is far from simple in a championship boasting one of its strongest fields ever.
“This year, you can never ease off. You have to attack 100% all the time. The grid is incredible with the Daarbak brothers, Meunier, Vitols, Hagström, Larsen… everyone out there has the pace to win races. Even in qualifying, you’ve got to be at your best. At Nysum, I expect the Daarbak brothers to be very quick on home soil. It’ll be flat out—but with no room for mistakes.”
Heading into a nail-biting finale, the 17-year-old remains remarkably composed.
“Pressure is part of the game. Of course, I want to win, but if I finish second, it’s not the end of the world—even if I’d be a little disappointed. I’ll do everything to grab the title, but whatever happens, I know this has already been a great season against top-class rivals.”
