Currently sitting sixth in the North Championship standings for Supercar Lites and just 25 points behind leader Julien Meunier, Kevin Daarbak approaches the Nysum round with a clear ambition: to make a big impact on home soil.

With four podium finishes and eight final appearances since the start of the season, the Danish driver has clearly taken a major step forward compared to last year.

That said, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Valkenswaard was marred by a series of mechanical issues, and an early exit in the semi-finals during Race 2 at Älvsbyn added another setback. Still, the Dane is determined to capitalize on his home advantage to turn the momentum back in his favor this weekend.

“The 2025 season has been full of highs and lows,” admits Kevin.

“The first two rounds at Montalegre went well—we had strong pace and everything looked promising. Then in the Netherlands, a series of issues dropped us down the standings. Fortunately, we bounced back in Riga with a double podium before a string of punctures in Älvsbyn kept me from showing my true speed. Missing out in the semi-final on Sunday was disappointing, but now I’m fully focused on this weekend in Nysum.”

Racing in front of a home crowd changes everything, and Kevin makes no secret of his excitement ahead of one of his favorite events.

“It’s an incredible feeling to race here at Nysum in front of my sponsors, partners, family, friends, and all the fans. Of course, that brings a lot of expectations, but I want to show what we’re capable of. We’ve worked hard and done plenty of testing on this track. This time, the goal is clear: I want to get as close as possible to my first Supercar Lites win. I believe we’ve got the perfect setup to make it happen.”

With four races left on the calendar, every point will matter in determining the final standings.

“We have two double-headers coming up at Nysum and Buxtehude, and I plan to attack all the way,” Kevin emphasizes.

Another storyline for the season finale is the family rivalry with his brother Tobias, as Kevin trails by just three points in the North Championship standings.

“Tobias is incredibly fast, and I learn a lot from him every week. He never leaves anything to chance and always pushes to find those small adjustments that make a difference. We often end up in the same qualifying races, so it’s going to be a real battle between us to see who comes out on top. One thing is certain: the fans are in for a great show.”
