Fresh from his first career victory in the RallyX Championship last week at the Nysum circuit, Vetle Try heads into the season finale in Germany with no pressure weighing on his shoulders.

The JC Raceteknik driver had already claimed a podium earlier in the year in Riga, underlining the significant progress he has made in recent months.

After finishing only 26th in the overall standings in 2024, Try now sits fourth in the CrossCar class ahead of the Buxtehude round.

Following two difficult outings at Älvsbyn 2 and Nysum 1, where he managed just 10th and 20th place finishes, the Norwegian proved in Denmark that he has all the tools to be a consistent contender for victory.

“Since last year, we’ve made huge progress,” Try acknowledged.

“I can’t even describe how it feels to have taken my first win. We went through some really tough moments at Älvsbyn that hit me hard mentally, and things got even more difficult in Race 1 at Nysum. Even with the huge pressure when I found myself in position to win Race 2, I pulled it off, and I think this success marks a major step forward for me.”

For Try, that performance at Nysum was above all proof of his ability to bounce back after a challenging opening day.

“In Race 1, we definitely had the pace, no doubt. But with the rain, a DNF in Q1, and heavy traffic in Q3, nothing went our way. In the end, it wasn’t such a bad day in terms of speed, but I honestly can’t explain how I managed to take the win the next day. I’m just lucky to have an incredible team around me, and I believe their positivity and motivation really pushed me to go beyond my limits.”

Now facing Estering—a tight, demanding track where anything can happen—Try is determined not to get caught up in the championship fight, even with a potential podium finish in the CrossCar standings within reach.

“For Estering, I have no specific expectations. I just want to drive for fun. Whenever I start thinking about the championship, my performance drops, and my recent results at Älvsbyn proved it. I was far too focused on holding onto third place, and it cost me. I need to keep the same mindset that helped me take the win in Denmark.”
