Forced to abandon his Casmat chassis midway through the 2025 season, Joonatan Ylilammi wasted no time bouncing back by switching to a Speedcar Wonder.

Indeed, after clinching three consecutive wins over the summer, the young Finn firmly re-established himself in the fight for the RallyX championship title.

However, a mixed end to the season—marked by two semi-final exits in the final three rounds—ultimately dashed his hopes of standing on the final championship podium.

Just like in 2024, Ylilammi wrapped up his campaign in fourth place overall, right behind the trio of Murstad, Juga, and Try.

The final round in Buxtehude certainly didn’t go his way, with a 6th and 10th place finish to show for his efforts.

“Buxtehude was definitely not my best weekend of the season,” Joonatan reflected.
“I really wanted to end the year on a high note, but luck just wasn’t on my side. I had steering issues and struggled to find grip on that track. We did what we could. Thankfully, my starts were solid, and that helped me find a few solutions.”

Now firmly established as one of the rising stars in the CrossCar category, Ylilammi remains positive about his season.

“It’s been a year of highs and lows. I think switching cars mid-season was the right move. I felt much more at home with the Speedcar chassis, but I still need a lot more seat time. I only contested six races with this new car and had very little testing, so there’s still a lot of work ahead to fine-tune the suspension setup.

Back in 2023, I was driving a chassis I knew inside and out. Whether it rained or the sun was shining, I could always rely on the same settings. Now, with the Speedcar Wonder, I still need to fully understand how the car reacts in different conditions so we can optimize performance across every track on the calendar.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Ylilammi is eager to return to the RallyX grid—though he knows the road ahead won’t be without its challenges.

“My top priority is to be back for a full program next season, but I’ll also have to manage my military service in Finland, which starts soon. We’ll have to see how I can juggle both.

One thing is certain: my motivation is still intact, and I’m determined to be back in RallyX in 2026. We’ll keep pushing through the off-season, and if things go well with sponsorship, we might even line up for a few winter events in Spain.”
