Maiko Tamm: “An incredible end to the season”

Although Maiko Tamm had to settle for third place in the overall standings of the RallyX Championship, the young Estonian driver still made a major impression during the summer of 2025. By claiming victory in the Euro RX round held at Finland’s KymiRing at the end of August, Tamm showed he already has all the tools needed to succeed at the highest level.

Since its launch in 2014, the RallyX Championship has continued to prove its worth as a springboard for emerging talent. The Scandinavian series has already produced a host of future stars, and in 2025, Tamm added to that legacy by taking his second win of the year at KymiRing.

“For me, it’s a fantastic way to wrap up the season,” said the TT Motorsport driver.

“We had already won at KymiRing in June as part of the RallyX Championship, but to come back and do it again — this time in the European Championship — is just incredible.”

Tamm topped the timesheets in free practice and backed it up with the third-fastest time in Q1. However, an 11th-place result in Q2 pushed him down to seventh overall by the end of Q4.

That setback wasn’t enough to derail him. The Estonian stepped up in the final phases to secure his first-ever European Championship win.

“From the first free practice, we knew we were on pace, and Q1 confirmed that,” he explained. “The rest of the day was trickier, but I kept a cool head and stayed focused on the goal. Our aim at KymiRing was simple: see where we stood against the top Euro RX drivers and find out if we had the speed to compete at the front. This race gave me clear answers.”

“Topping free practice was already an amazing feeling, but throughout each start and each race, I kept gaining speed and experience. Of course, I made a few small mistakes, but I learned so much along the way.”

After winning the Open 4WD Pro-Am title ahead of Viktor Vranckx in his rookie RallyX season, Tamm has continued to establish himself as one of the rising forces in Supercar competition.

“These last three years in RallyX have been an incredible school for me as a driver. Everyone here competes at a very high level, the pace is intense, but there’s also tremendous mutual respect.”

“The KymiRing track isn’t easy to get to grips with. That first corner is especially tricky — it’s easy to make a mistake. That’s exactly what happened to me on day one.”

“The final itself was intense. I could feel the pressure building from behind, with rivals closing in. But surprisingly, I didn’t feel overwhelmed. I wasn’t fighting for the championship, so I could race completely relaxed. My mindset was simple: ‘Okay, let’s enjoy this and have fun.’ And clearly, that approach worked!”

As for what comes next in his career, Tamm is keeping his options open.

“I’m not yet sure what I’ll be doing next year, but I really hope I can continue progressing in Rallycross. I’ll also be entering my final year at university, so there will be a lot to juggle. We’ll take some time, make a plan, and see how things unfold. But one thing’s for sure: I truly love Rallycross.”
