Crowned for the first time in his career in the CrossCar category last season, Thomas Eek Murstad has confirmed that he will indeed defend his RallyX title at the wheel of his Speedcar Wonder chassis.
At the same time, the talented Norwegian is already looking ahead, preparing for the next stage of his career with the construction of an FC2 car that he plans to run from 2026 in Norway’s national rallycross championship.
After finishing on the final podium of the RallyX championship for three consecutive seasons, Murstad finally achieved his long-awaited goal in 2025, clinching the overall title last August at the Buxtehude circuit.
That German triumph stands as a defining moment in the Norwegian’s career. Its significance is all the greater given his impressive RallyX record to date, which includes six victories and a total of 20 podium finishes since he first entered the championship.
“Bringing this title back to Norway was an incredible moment. If I’m not mistaken, I might even be the first Norwegian driver to win a championship in CrossCar,” Murstad explains.
“From the very start of the season, the plan was simple: score as many points as possible at every event, without putting too much focus on the championship itself or adding unnecessary pressure. I think that approach helped me a lot, and it’s a mindset I want to carry into 2026. After the qualifying session at Estering, which secured the title, the feeling was almost unreal,” continues the Norwegian, who will attempt in 2026 to become the first driver in RallyX CrossCar history to claim back-to-back titles.
“After several seasons where I came agonisingly close to the title, finally going all the way was an incredibly powerful emotional moment. Even now, that same sense of pride is what drives me to go again in CrossCar. I also want to thank everyone who played a part in helping me win the title in 2025.”

While 2025 was a season of fulfilment, it also marked the beginning of deeper reflections regarding Murstad’s short-term future.
“During the season, we deliberately kept our options open while remaining fully focused on the championship we were fighting for. We discussed FC2 and decided to test it in race conditions in the Norwegian championship to really understand how the car works. Even though I managed to finish third on that occasion, I know there are still plenty of areas that can be improved.”
“At the end of last season, we took the time to analyse the different options and ultimately decided to return for another year in this fantastic CrossCar category. The 2026 season therefore promises to bring plenty of new challenges and opportunities.”
Behind the scenes, Murstad is already hard at work completing the build of a brand-new FC2 car, which he plans to enter in the Norwegian Rallycross Championship in 2026.
“In parallel, I can confirm that we are currently building an FC2 for 2026. The initial goal is to contest three rounds of the Norwegian championship in order to gain experience, both in terms of driving and car setup. The season and preparation are shaping up to be very busy, but also extremely motivating.”
One thing is clear: Murstad has no intention of rushing the process.
“This FC2 season must above all help us understand what really works for us. A full FC2 programme in RallyX requires a significantly larger budget, and we first need to evaluate the real costs in race conditions and strengthen our partnerships. 2027 could be more strongly focused on the FC2 project, but that will depend entirely on the resources we are able to secure. This year will therefore be a learning season with the FC2, but my clear priority remains CrossCar. I want to work hard and do everything possible to secure a second consecutive title.”
