After devoting his 2025 season to completing his mandatory military service in Finland, Riku Huuhka has confirmed his return to full-time competition in the RallyX Championship this year. Now a key figure on the CrossCar scene, he is coming back with clear ambitions.

A three-time Finnish champion in CrossCar and rallycross, Huuhka had already made a strong impression in 2023 by finishing fourth overall in the RallyX standings. Following a limited 2025 campaign, reduced to a handful of appearances due to his military commitments, the young Finn now approaches the 2026 season with a clear, structured program and undiminished ambition.

This full-time return is supported by extensive groundwork, particularly on the technical side, aimed at ensuring the best possible conditions for the new campaign.

“We are continuing the development of the Yamaha engine with the goal of making it even more competitive. Our chief mechanic, Timo Laapotti, has a very clear vision of the technical direction we need to take. We will also be working on the chassis, with a specific focus on asphalt-dominated circuits such as Tierp Arena. Historically, asphalt has always been more challenging for us, so this is a key area of development for this season.”

Beyond his immediate objectives, Huuhka is also keeping a close eye on the evolution of his sport and on the opportunities that may arise in the future.

“In the long term, I hope to have the opportunity to drive something other than CrossCars, but nothing is set in stone yet.”

As part of this medium-term outlook, the FC2 category already stands out as a credible option for the next phase of his career.

“FC2 is clearly an interesting alternative and represents a logical transition after CrossCar, before considering Supercar. For now, the goal is to contest the upcoming season in CrossCar, but of course, moving up to a higher category would be a very motivating prospect.”
