A part-time contender in the RallyX championship in recent seasons, Erik Lidman made a strong impression in June 2025 at Älvsbyn. Behind the wheel of a brand-new BMW E30 M3, the Lycksele native notably secured a Top 5 finish in the opening race of the weekend, underlining both his pace and potential.

In 2026, Lidman will contest the full RallyX calendar with the same car, now supported by GK Door Team Sweden. It is an opportunity he has fully embraced as he significantly increases his commitment to the RallyX championship.

“RallyX is an exceptionally well-organised championship. The circuits are high quality, the race weekend structure is professional and the overall level is very competitive. As drivers, we also get plenty of track time over a single weekend, which is essential for development,” Erik explained before continuing:

“My ambition has always been to compete in the full RallyX series, particularly because the Open 2WD field in the Swedish Championship lacks numbers. It’s never easy to balance mechanics, family life, business responsibilities and at the same time manage the car, the bus and physical training yourself.”

“This year, I have the opportunity to join GK Door Team Sweden. They will take care of the car both during and between events, which represents a major step forward in my development as a driver and allows me to commit to the entire RallyX season.”

Having already demonstrated his capabilities with a podium finish at the demanding Norrlandsveckan in 2024, Lidman now takes on a challenge of a different magnitude, lining up against some of the strongest Open 2WD specialists in the series.

“I’m convinced that GK Door Team Sweden will help me raise my level and bring even greater professionalism to the project. The car will now be run at a higher standard than I was previously able to manage on my own. Viktor Johansson, Simon Tiger, Lukas Gabrielsson and the others are extremely fast, so I approach this season with humility.”

“The chassis and engine have been updated and are now very reliable. My objective is clear: to be able to fight with them. It’s simply unfortunate that the opening round of the championship in France was cancelled, as we would have been on the starting grid to experience this new event from the inside.”
