After securing five career podiums in the RallyX championship’s Open 2WD category, Adam Öhman has used the off-season to take the next step in his development by embracing a new challenge in the FC2 ranks.
A snowmobile specialist at the highest international level for nearly two decades, Öhman quickly built a strong reputation in the world of rallycross. In addition to his impressive RallyX performances, the driver from Älvsbyn notably claimed back-to-back victories in the famous Norrlandsveckan in 2023 and 2024 behind the wheel of his Lexus IS200.
Now, the nephew of legendary driver Mats Öhman is preparing to compete in a very different environment as he continues his rallycross journey.
“Since my early days in rallycross, I’ve mainly competed in events located in northern Sweden. I now feel the time has come to broaden my horizons and discover new circuits outside the country,” Adam explains.
Having already expressed interest in the RallyX championship since his first appearance in the series in August 2023 at Höljes, the Swedish driver decided to take things a step further this winter.
“The RallyX format also played a role in my decision. With two races held over the same weekend, the championship is much easier to manage in terms of travel and logistics. It allows me to compete internationally without travel becoming too demanding, and that was an important factor in my decision.”

Beyond simply moving up to a new category, Öhman is also preparing to measure himself against a particularly competitive field in the FC2 class, where identical machinery ensures a level playing field.
“It will be very interesting to see where I stand against such a competitive and talented field. I really like the FC2 concept: the fact that every driver has the same equipment guarantees that everyone is fighting with equal machinery. In those conditions, performance depends primarily on the driver, and that’s something that motivates me enormously.”
Having previously raced exclusively in two-wheel-drive machinery, the Swede also had to adapt to the technical characteristics of his new car.
“I’ve already had the chance to spend quite a bit of time behind the wheel of the car and, coming from a background where I’ve only raced two-wheel-drive cars, the difference is very clear. With the FC2, you can be much more aggressive in your driving and the car’s overall behaviour is really impressive. It’s stable, very responsive and inspires confidence very quickly. I hadn’t actually tested the FC2 before deciding to invest in our own car, but after getting some proper running in it, I quickly felt that it was the right step for me.”
Fully aware of the championship’s high level of competition, Öhman is nevertheless approaching this new stage of his career with patience, focusing on learning and consistency.
“My main objective is first to understand the level of performance at this stage and to improve my consistency throughout the season. Of course, like every driver, I go to each race with the ambition of fighting for the top positions, but I remain realistic and I know it may take some time. One thing is certain: if I didn’t have that mindset and that ambition, I don’t think I would still be competing.”
