2019 FIA World Rallycross World Champion Timmy Hansen is set to return to action at the RallyX round in Tierp, which will serve as the second event of the 2026 RallyX season on May 16–17. The Swedish driver will compete at the wheel of an FC2 car, marking his first appearance in the category.
Following recent changes to FIA technical regulations that forced him to reassess his plans, Hansen approaches the 2026 season with a fresh perspective, combining a desire to remain active in competition while laying the groundwork for future commitments, particularly in RallyX Americas.
“This start to the season is obviously very different from what we’ve experienced in recent years. At the same time, we’re working to build a solid program while taking a step back to understand where the sport is heading,” said Hansen, who is also competing in the E1 Series powerboat championship with Team Miami.
“That’s why we decided to enter the Tierp event in FC2. I think it’s a very strong category with a good competitive level, and the fact that it takes place in Sweden makes it even more special for us.”
This return to competition is part of a broader strategy for the Hansen camp, which is also exploring new opportunities.

“It was recently confirmed that Hansen Motorsport will compete in RallyX Americas. I believe this championship is a great fit for our team. Racing in Tierp with the FC2 is therefore an important first step, a way to build momentum towards our RallyX Americas program.”
Beyond the strategic context, it is above all the enjoyment of driving that motivates the Swede.
“My motivation is simple: I love driving rallycross. That’s really the main reason I’ll be in Tierp. The performance of this car is quite close to a Supercar. It’s a very fast, high-level machine with four-wheel drive. I haven’t tested it yet, but on paper it looks very competitive. We’ve already seen in some events that FC2 cars can challenge Supercars. That said, beyond the car itself, I’ll have a lot to discover, as the Tierp circuit is completely new to me.”
Used to the latest technologies in rallycross, Hansen is also looking forward to rediscovering a more traditional driving experience.
“It’s not a problem at all to go back to a more ‘classic’ car. On the contrary, I’m really looking forward to that old-school feeling, especially with standing starts where you have to manage the clutch, the engine revs and the turbo. Those are sensations I enjoy. And of course, there’s the sound. That’s an important part of it. So yes, going back to a combustion engine, powerful four-wheel-drive car is something I’m really excited about.”
With strong competition expected, this outing at Tierp will also play a key role in preparing Hansen Motorsport’s program in RallyX Americas.
“The most important thing for me will be to be behind the wheel of a competitive car and racing against top-level drivers. Tierp is important for the whole team, mechanics, engineers, everyone needs to perform. It’s our first real race, and it will help us get prepared and find our rhythm.”
