Alexander Lindeqvist: “I realized the pace was there”

Switching over from the CrossCar category, Sweden’s Alexander Lindeqvist delivered a strong impression on his Supercar Lites debut. Third in Race 1, he stepped up a gear the following day to finish second, just behind Roberts Vitols.

It was an especially convincing first outing for a driver still in the early stages of his learning curve, yet one who quickly adapted to the demands of a Supercar Lites machine, whose characteristics differ significantly from anything he had experienced before. Lindeqvist did not hide his satisfaction after this opening round, looking beyond the raw results.

“Honestly, it was even better than I expected. I had a really great weekend. Coming into Valkenswaard, the plan was to take it easy and not expect too much from a first race. But from the very first day, I realized the pace was there, and the second day was even better. That’s very encouraging.”

Immediately able to challenge the benchmark drivers, the Swede stood out for his consistency in Race 2, stringing together three consecutive top-three finishes in the qualifying heats.

“The consistency was good today, and that’s very positive. I’m really happy, especially considering I’d only done around twenty laps in the car and had never driven a proper rallycross car before. To already be on the pace and fighting within a few hundredths of the front runners in this category is very satisfying.”

While this first appearance highlights clear potential, Lindeqvist remains fully aware of the areas he still needs to improve in order to take the next step in the coming weeks.

“There’s still a lot to improve. You can always get better, especially on the starts. The race pace was pretty good this weekend, the lap times were there, but we need to keep working. I mainly need to do a lot more laps to better understand the car and fine-tune my feeling. In any case, I’m really enjoying it. I love it, and I can’t wait to keep improving.”
