The first-ever RallyX Americas championship event at Crandon International Raceway will see an all-new take on the sport of rallycross, although much of the layout will be familiar to fans who have been attending its events for the past few decades. Here’s a look at what fans can expect from our course later this week:
LAUNCH AND OUT LAP
Utilizing a specially built launch pad, new to the facility for RallyX Americas, drivers will have a unique start zone separate from the traditional Walker Evans Land Rush. Coming from the center of the track, drivers will enter the main lap right in front of the fans, facing Ponsse Turn Two as the first corner of their race.
MAIN LAP
The main lap matches the Short layout that is also used by many short course classes, which sees drivers take a sweeping, 180-degree left turn shortly after the McCoy Finish Line that keeps them in front of fans as much as possible.
JOKER LAP
The Joker will see drivers take a high line far to the outside of the first left-hand corner after the McCoy Finish Line. Marked by two tractor tires, drivers have used it in early practice sessions as a strategic way to get out of the dirt roost behind another car.
