Robin Larsson, Mitchell deJong Win Inaugural RallyX Americas Finals at Crandon

After winning their respective semifinals and starting from the inside of Row 1 in their finals, Hypercar driver Robin Larsson of JC Raceteknik and Supercar driver Mitchell deJong of BAK40 Motorsports are the first-ever RallyX Americas race winners after Round 1 of the season wrapped up at Crandon International Raceway earlier today. Both drivers earned a Dennis Reinbold 1 of 1 Award, given to any RallyX Americas driver who can win in their first start in the series, and will enter Round 2 later this afternoon as the championship leaders.

Recaps of all finals are as follows:

Supercar B Final

Romet Tsirna charged from the second row into first place, going between Patrick Gruszka and Johnny Holtger over the first jump, briefly giving the spot back, and reclaiming it as the drivers jumped three wide into the Sky Box Straight. Tsirna would begin to pull a gap on Holtger as Gruszka took the earliest Joker, and when both took the Joker on the final lap, Tsirna’s victory was secured.

Hypercar B Final

Oliver Eriksson would jump out to the lead ahead of Tommi Hallman and Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky. Ahlin-Kottulinsky Jokered early, which kept her within reach of Hallman after the rest of the Jokers settled out, but in the end they would remain in that order for the majority of the race. Though he wouldn’t have a chance to run for the A final win, Eriksson would post the fastest lap across either final, a 47.013.

Supercar A Final

Neither Mitchell deJong nor Banks Hovey had a strong start, allowing Simon Olofsson to take an early lead over deJong and Gray Leadbetter, but deJong would regain the lead from his BAK40 Motorsports teammate heading into Ponsse Turn Two on the second lap and check out on the field, posting the fastest lap of 47.841 seconds in the process. Hovey would bump Olofsson in the final pass through Calamity Corner to cross the line second, giving Lukas Andersson the third spot across the line, but Hovey would be penalized for the contact, reversing their positions.

Hypercar A Final

Larsson and Henderson would take the first jump side by side, but Larsson would settle into the initial lead as Mitchell deJong made an initial charge and Lia Block took advantage of the pressure to work her way into second. Henderson Jokered early to get away from Block and deJong and try to take advantage of clean air while they battled for second, and the move paid off; first deJong would peel off to give Henderson third place, and he was nearly able to catch Block for second before she Jokered. Larsson and Block would save their Jokers to the final lap, and deJong would get past Block for the final podium spot.
