Tobias Daarbak Delivers on Home Soil at Nysum

Tobias Daarbak made the most of the opening day of competition at Nysum by claiming a double podium in front of his home crowd. The Danish driver secured his second victory of the season in the Pro Am final before finishing third in the Pro final.

Having already won at Älvsbyn 2, finished second at Honkajoki 1 and third at Tierp 1, Daarbak added another Pro Am victory to his record. It was a particularly important result after several rounds in which he had struggled to unlock the full potential of his car.

“I really needed this victory because I have struggled enormously with the car. We have finally found a very good setup, and I now feel completely comfortable behind the wheel. We have spent a huge amount of time preparing the car at home in the garage to ensure we were as ready as possible,” explained the Dane.

The day had not begun in the best possible fashion, however. Fifth in Q1 and seventh in Q2, Daarbak remained relatively low-key heading into the final qualifying session.

“On Saturday morning, I had to take a few risks. Some sponsors will be here on Sunday, so I wanted to try a few things to see what was and was not possible in terms of setup. In the end, it worked. I think I had the pace, and I am really very happy with the day.”

The turning point came in Q3. After setting the second-fastest time overall, Daarbak climbed to fourth in the intermediate standings at the end of qualifying.

“Q3 was the real breakthrough for me. From that moment onwards, everything went perfectly.”

After winning the Pro Am final, Daarbak went on to finish third in the Pro final, which was stopped before reaching its scheduled conclusion. With confidence restored, the Dane now hopes to build on Saturday’s performance in Race 2.

“I am going to study the data to see whether there are still a few areas we can improve. I think the speed is there. I had not driven for a month and a half, so I simply need to get back into the rhythm.”
