Oliver Lucas Jensen claimed victory in the second CrossCar event of the Nysum weekend after producing one of the most remarkable comeback drives of the RallyX North season. Only 12th in the intermediate classification after retiring in Q2, the Dane recovered by finishing second in his semi-final before winning the final ahead of five Norwegian drivers: Dennis Vik, Thomas Eek Murstad, Vetle Try, Patrick Ruud and Espen Isaksætre.
Despite claiming victory, Jensen finished only third in the day’s points standings with 18 championship points. Murstad collected 26, while Vik scored 25.
Murstad built his result by topping qualifying before winning his semi-final and completing the podium. Vik also claimed victory in his semi-final before finishing second overall. Jensen, however, proved to be the fastest driver when it mattered most, setting the quickest lap of the final with a 39.794. His climb from 12th in the intermediate classification stands out as the most impressive performance of the eighth RallyX North round of the season.
It proved to be a more difficult day for several championship contenders. Isaksætre retired in the final, but the 15 points he secured during qualifying, combined with the five points earned in his semi-final, still allowed him to leave the event with 21 championship points.
Carl Svedlund, who retired in Q1, recovered to finish second in Q3, but eighth in the intermediate classification and fifth in his semi-final limited him to just 11 points. Riku Huuhka, who qualified 15th, recorded his weakest performance of the 2026 season, scoring only three points in the second event.
Having collected 48 points across the weekend, including victory on Saturday, Espen Isaksætre moves to the top of the championship standings with 177 points. Arriving at Nysum trailing Carl Svedlund by 14 points, the Norwegian now heads to Estering with a five-point advantage over the Swede, who scored only 29 points in Denmark.
Thomas Eek Murstad, who amassed 46 points over the weekend, has closed to within eight points of the championship lead and sits just three behind Svedlund. The top three drivers will therefore arrive at the final two rounds in Buxtehude covered by only eight points.
Svedlund must outscore Isaksætre by at least six points to reclaim the championship lead, while Murstad needs to gain nine points on the leader and four on Svedlund.
Huuhka and Vetle Try also remain mathematically in contention, while five drivers in total head to Buxtehude still capable of winning the 2026 RallyX North CrossCar title.
