Hansen Motorsport’s Timmy Hansen and SET Promotion’s Tommi Hallman are tied for the lead in Hypercar, while incoming Supercar points leader Lukas Andersson of JC Raceteknik ran away with his class, as RallyX Americas completed its first two rounds of heat races in its inaugural season finale at Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières on Saturday. Here’s a look back at the first-day action:

Hypercar

The top four drivers in Hypercar points would post the fastest four laps in timed qualifying, with Oliver Eriksson’s 49.454-second lap beating incoming points leader Robin Larsson by just .092 seconds. But it was Tommi Hallman who would draw first blood in the first round of qualifying heats, working his way past Kevin Eriksson early in their group and posting the fastest four-lap time at 3:33.827. Oliver Eriksson would climb his way to second, while 2016 GP3R winner Hansen began his path to playing spoiler with a clean run up front in the other Hypercar group.

Kevin Eriksson would lead the first group from start to finish in the second round of heats, but a wide slide into the tires in the gravel would mean he’d come in slower than all four drivers in the second group. Instead, Hansen would be fastest of all, with Larsson sneaking into second between Hansen and Hallman when they Jokered late in the session.

Larsson’s late pass in the second heat round set up Hansen and Hallman to tie with 92 intermediate points thanks to a first place and third place each. Larsson and Oliver Eriksson would also tie with 85, with each having finishes of second and fourth.

Supercar

After a strong European season in Supercar Lites, Roberts Vitols’ FC2 Supercar debut saw him post the fastest qualifying time with a 51.190, ahead of Andersson and fellow FC2 debutant Alexander Lindeqvist. Andersson’s experience enabled him to reclaim the top spot in the first qualifying heat, though, beating Vitols by nearly a second and a half with a 3:36.163. Thomas Eek Murstad would be third on time thanks to a perfect start in his group that was made even stronger by hesitation from all of the other drivers.

In the second round, Lindeqvist would cross the line first in the first group, while local hero Pat Denis faced the first incident of the day in the final corners. Andersson would again be the class of the field in the second, pulling away dramatically, as Lindeqvist’s time proved good enough for second fastest in the session.

While Andersson posted the only perfect day among RallyX Americas competitors, earning 100 intermediate points, the group behind him is closely matched. Lindeqvist and Vitols would tie for second with 84 points, while Tyler Leach and Murstad would each post 82 to complete the top five.
