As young Danish driver Mads Larsen gears up to make his debut this weekend in both RallyX and the Supercar Lites category at Valkenswaard, he’s approaching the challenge with a calm mindset and zero pressure.
Named “Off-Road Rookie of the Year” by the Danish Motor Sports Federation last season, after claiming back-to-back titles in Rallycross and Folkrace, Larsen is now preparing to step into a whole new world of competition.
“This is my very first race in Supercar Lites, so of course, being here is a big deal for me. Until now, I had only raced in Denmark in small local events with my family. Now I’m at a major event with a full grid—it’s a completely different atmosphere! But I’m not putting any pressure on myself this weekend. My goal is just to enjoy it and learn as much as I can about the car,” explains the Linnemann Promotion driver.
After a first test session in Supercar Lites back in November 2024, the 17-year-old has since taken time to familiarize himself further with his new machine.
“We managed to get a few test sessions in ahead of this race. The first time I drove the car at the end of last season, I thought it was a blast. It’s a really fast car, and when you’re having fun behind the wheel, that’s always a good sign. It means you’ve got a good feeling for it—and that’s often the first step toward being quick.”
With that mindset, Larsen is focused more on gaining experience than chasing specific results.
“This weekend, my only goal is to finish the heats and try to keep up with the pace of the other drivers. I’m not here to aim for any particular position. I’m just going to focus on driving, try to be as fast as I can, but without putting a number on what I need to achieve.”
Relaxed, determined, and fully aware of the road ahead, Mads Larsen is undoubtedly one to watch this weekend at Valkenswaard.
