Fraser McConnell never backs down

Despite a tough qualifying session that left him 11th in the intermediate standings, Fraser McConnell pulled off one of the most impressive comebacks on the opening day of competition.

In addition to securing a second-place finish behind Anton Seppä in the Pro-Am final, the Jamaican driver held off Viktor Vranckx in the semi-final to claim his fourth Pro final qualification of the season.

He would go on to finish just shy of the podium, right behind Maiko Tamm.

“This was probably one of the most demanding days we’ve had since the start of the season,” Fraser admitted.

“The Supercars were especially quick today, but we still managed to show what the FC2 is capable of. We’re still in the development phase, so we know there’s a lot more to unlock. Once we reach that point, we’ll really be able to fight at the front.”

One thing is clear—Fraser McConnell remains true to his fighting spirit.

“That said, I’m happy with the result. At the start of the day, the podium didn’t really seem within reach, but we never gave up. We worked hard to get the most out of the car, and in the end, we walked away with some strong points.”

McConnell is also keen to highlight the team effort behind the ongoing development of the car, which continued over the weekend in Riga.

“The data Kevin Eriksson is collecting during testing—right after each qualifying session—is incredibly valuable. It’s going to be a major factor in making this car more competitive, all while keeping costs under control. Our main focus this season is clear: lay a solid foundation for RallyX Americas while continuing to build momentum in Europe.”

“What we’re showing here is that the FC2 can be competitive not just in Europe but also in the U.S. By the end of 2025, I truly believe this car will be ready to go head-to-head with the best.”

Riga also marked a personal milestone for the Jamaican driver.

“It’s my very first time in Latvia, and here at the Riga circuit. I have nothing but good things to say—an incredible track, a warm atmosphere, amazing food. I’ve genuinely fallen in love with the city and this venue.”

And while the experience was rewarding, the technical demands of the Latvian layout didn’t go unnoticed.

“This track is extremely technical. One small mistake can cost you the whole lap. It’s a real test of a driver’s skill, but I absolutely loved the challenge.”

With his eyes already on the next outing, McConnell is clear about what comes next.

“There’s always room to improve. Tomorrow, the goal is to do better—cleaner laps, quicker times, and push toward the front of the pack.”
