After an opening day marked by victories from Janis Baumanis and Robert Vitols in Open 4WD and Supercar Lites, the two Latvian drivers seized the opportunity to repeat their success in the second race of the Riga weekend.
The former World RX competitor wasted no time reminding his rivals of his talent. Topping the intermediate classification ahead of Viktor Vranckx and Finnish rising star Anton Seppä, Janis Baumanis doubled down on home soil, taking the win ahead of Maiko Tamm—who secured his second consecutive podium of the weekend—while Filip Martinsson rounded out the top three in the Open 4WD Pro category.
In the Pro Am class, Mikko Ikonen prevailed over Casper Jansson and Fraser McConnell.
Supercar Lites: Robert Vitols unstoppable on home soil
Just like Janis Baumanis, Robert Vitols also made his mark during the second day of competition. Once again dominant in the intermediate standings with the fastest times in both Q2 and Q3, the Latvian gained an early edge over Lukas Andersson and Julien Meunier.
In front of his home crowd, the Team Färén driver proved untouchable, claiming a second straight win with nearly a two-second margin over Lukas Andersson. Third across the line in his very first race at this level, 14-year-old Swedish talent Hampus Hagström was later penalized for causing a collision at the entry to the first corner. That decision handed Kevin Daarbak his third podium of the 2025 season.
Open 2WD: Salowomir Woloch doubles up
After a challenging weekend in Valkenswaard, Polish driver Salowomir Woloch turned heads in Riga. Winner of Race 1 following the unexpected exits of pre-race favorites Viktor Johansson and Lucas Gabrielsson in the semifinals, he repeated the feat the following day.
Despite qualifying only fifth, Woloch nailed the start in the final and never looked back, crossing the line ahead of Viktor Johansson and Jon Ny.
In Pro Am, Lithuanian Andrius Kragas took charge behind the wheel of his Skoda Fabia Mk3, besting Vaclav Tuma and Anton Carlsson in his VW Polo.
CrossCar: Armin Raag on top, Carl Svedlund penalized
While Vetle Try continued his rise in the Senior ranks by winning the intermediate classification, the Norwegian couldn’t hold off Estonian Armin Raag, who stormed to his second consecutive win on the Riga track.
Martin Juga secured his sixth straight podium of the season, further cementing his reputation for consistency with a strong second-place finish, while Vetle Try earned his first career Top 3 in the RallyX championship.
In the Junior category, Carl Svedlund narrowly missed out on what would have been his fifth win in six races. The young Swede dominated qualifying with fastest times in Q1 and Q3 but was caught out in the final, receiving a penalty for an overly aggressive overtaking attempt.
That was enough to drop the JC Raceteknik driver to second place behind Peetu Piira. Already a podium finisher in Race 1, Iivari Mannisto repeated the feat, taking third-place points.
